Why You Should Visit Studland
Studland is known for its sandy beaches, the Studland Heath National Nature Reserve, and the Old Harry Rocks at Studland Bay.
At Studland you can enjoy a day of golf at the nearby Isle of Purbeck Golf Course. The course has spectacular views of the area. Do you not play golf? Perhaps you would enjoy a drink at the pub with views of the sea, located near the beach car park.
Bird-watchers can sit in one of the several hides located around Little Sea lake in the Nature Reserve.
If you're interested in Second World War history, you may want to visit Fort Henry in Studland. Military rehearsals for the D-Day invasion took place on Studland Beach because the sands of Studland closely resembled those in France. Prime Minister Winston Churchill, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, General Bernard Montgomery and Acting Admiral Louis Mountbatten watched the rehearsals from Fort Henry, which was one of the largest and strongest observation posts in Britain during the Second World War.
